Mission Statement
Our primary objective at Zentendo is to provide a total Nintendo experience that is unique to the reader. We want to deliver the latest information, provide timely reviews of products, challenge opinions with our editorials, showcase what games are all about with our media, and allow you to discuss it all in our community areas. Our goal is not to be fanboys, but rather, temper the passion of a fan with the reasoning of a journalist. We are here to inform, educate, criticize and entertain.
About Zentendo
Zentendo is a Nintendo-centric website with the latest news, reviews of recent Nintendo games and products, editorial pieces which explore the Nintendo universe, tons of videos and screenshots of the latest titles and an active community element inclduing blogs, forums, article comments and a chat room. Zentendo was founded in early 2007 by Mike Damiani, and the website was in development until its launch in July of 2007. Zentendo is a combination of the words "Zen" and "Nintendo", contrary to early beliefs it was a combination of the words "Zelda" and "Nintendo". We currently employ over a dozen staff members from various regions of the world, though we are a US-based organization. Zentendo boasts a staff that not only enjoys what they do - writing about video games - but also are very knowledgeable about the products they write about.

The idea behind Zentendo was to capture the immediacy of information that a blog delivers, combined with the presentation of a more structured content site, mixed with the expertise and passion of a fan site. In addition to basic product coverage, our staff strive to provide excellent coverage of major gaming events over the course of the calendar year, and due to most of our staff being in proximity of these major events, we're able to cover nearly all of them. We also employ several staff who are able to translate news from other languages into English, providing us with additional coverage beyond what many other sites can provide.

Zentendo also appeals to the hardcore fanbase with dedicated "visual guides" which showcase a higher level of gameplay than the average player, as well as other exclusive features like subtitled documentaries of popular franchises (like The Legend of Zelda) which we bring to the public eye in English for the first time. Through all of this, we hope to deliver a total "Nintendo" experience, but we do not shy away from covering major news related to its competitors. Afterall, we're not fanboys.

I have been around Zentendo since the beginning, but wasn't apart of the staff until the second month of its existence. I started out as an Assistant Editor for news and worked myself up to my current position. I am currently in school working towards a Computer Science Major with a Minor in Japanese. I have been gaming since I was a wee lad, my first system I owned being a Game Boy, but my first system played was an NES (I still have nightmares about the Duck Hunt dog). [br][br] My first online journalism experience was through Nintendo's official forums, NSider, which was closed down, but while it taught me the basics of how the Internet works and how the industry works, it wasn't until I arrived at Zentendo that I learned how to write more professionally. I have learned everything about gaming journalism from Zentendo and continue to try and do my best honing my skills. One day I would love to work in the Treehouse Division in Redmond translating software for North American gamers. [br][br] When I am not writing for Zentendo, looking for leads, or playing games, I am out and about with friends or studying Japanese. However, chances are Zentendo will always be on in the background.

I've been playing videogames for the majority of my life. The first time I played a videogame was when we were unable to see my Granddad as the had broken down so my father bought me a Sega Mega Drive (or a Genesis for the heathens) and that was when I was between three to five. Since then I've been playing videogames non-stop really.

On my tenth birthday, that was when my life moved from being a casual player to playing religiously and starting to actively find other people. For my tenth birthday I got a Nintendo 64 with Ocarina of Time. From that moment forward my life had changed forever. I started to become obsessed with The Legend of Zelda series and it was that obsession that moved me online. I made a Zelda website and from there on in, the rest is documented Zelda Community history.

Currently I work for Virgin Atlantic Airways, as I've completed college and I don't have any real direction for Higher Education and believe it would be a waste of money to go to University and study something that would not benefit me in later life.

Bio:
I was born on July 19th, 1986 in Columbus, Ohio and have lived here all my life. Ever since my Uncle introduced the Gameboy to me at the age of 6 I became an avid gamer with hopes and dreams of someday entering the gaming industry. I knew it was something I would wind up doing when I began drawing my own super mario level ideas at the age of 7. I grew up on Nintendo and have enjoyed every major console released by them, including the Virtual Boy. I currently own a Playstation 3, Wii, and Nintendo DS and an ever growing library of games. Nintendo through the years has become my company of choice due to their creative ideas and ability to think outside of the gaming norms in search of new ways to enjoy games. The creativity of Nintendo, as well as their willingness to take risks has been a constant inspiration to me and my creative thought process.

I am currently a junior, enrolled at the Ohio State University with a major in Art and minor in English. I hope to employ my skills as either a game concept artist or game journalist. I have long been a fan of creative writing as well and have written various creative stories. I hope that I can employ my ideas and creativity in whatever future job I may have. Currently I am living my life to the best of my ability, as I know hard work and dedication will indeed pay off in the end.

Series, Mega Man X, Command and Conquer Series, Crash Bandicoot series.

Bio:
I was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming but have moved constantly. I spent the first 6 or 7 years of my life in that area, but moved to Japan because my father is in the military and he was stationed at an American base in Misawa, Japan. I lived there for about three years until I returned to the States. My father was reassigned to Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital in Washington, D.C. and we lived for about 6 months in an apartment near the hospital. My family then bought a house in Rockville, MD which is about 9 miles from the capital. I have lived in this house since late 1999. I grew up in rural areas but now am more a suburban / urban dweller.

I have always been a passionate fan of video gaming. I started in very early years playing ALttP for the SNES and Link's Awakening on the GBC. I eventually bought an N64 and PSX and played countless games for each. This is the era that I really got involved with gaming and became a fairly hardcore gaming fan. When the GCN and the PS2 came out, it was the same way, but to a tad lesser degree of gaming enthusiasm. Eventually, after playing a lot of great games for both, I eventually got sort of tired of video games in general. I didn't play them nearly as much as I used to, and I just stopped playing just about every game. That is, until the Wii rolled around. I decided to get both the Wii and TP, mainly due to my lifetime love of Nintendo games and systems. Playing through TP twice reignited my love of gaming. I knew afterwards that I'd never look back, and that from now on, I'd be a gamer like never before.

I'm an introverted person, in general. My general distaste for pop culture has led to me ignore all the latest trends and hippest fashions. I guess I made this decision when I reasoned that the individual is his own best judge of how his life should be managed. I just tend to ignore social groups and their interactions, because I feel I can't change who I am to become them and fit in. I belong to no social groups, clubs, or any other organization. I would best describe myself as a hermit, who chooses to avoid society and people in general but can still get along well with other people.

I use the Internet as my primary means of interaction with other people. The concept of the Internet, the ability to exchange information, debate, and inform are all things that appeal to me. I've been a pretty steady user of the Internet for the past decade of my life, and I've become fairly well-versed in Internet culture.

But through the good times and bad, I'll always have my video games, which are by far the best things right now in my life. I've always been a huge Nintendo fan, and always will be.

Bio:
Born and raised in Melbourne, one of the world's most liveable cities, I had an average childhood and some intense teenage years, a number of jobs and finally a degree in International Business as a capable young adult. As sweet as Melbourne is, I couldn't appreciate its worth without experiencing alternatives. As such, I have lived in Seoul for a time, will live in Europe in the future, and now live in rural Japan. I've been here twenty months as of writing. It's a beautiful place, and despite its flaws, I could live here for a long time yet.

My life with video games as a young lad involved my friend's NES, my own SNES, and the local video store. I dabbled with the Nintendo 64 for a while, but it wasn't until the current console generation that I was brought back from PC gaming. When I first heard about the Wii's motion control, I immediately thought, "lightsabre!" and have been waiting for The Force Unleashed ever since. The DS lured me in with its Japanese dictionary software, and Ouendan and Phoenix Wright have kept me occupied too.

Writing was going to be a major focus for my life, but as it stands, I enjoy it as a hobby, as I do video games. And combining those two in my spare time is like maple syrup and ice-cream on waffles. Excuse me while I go and feed myself.

Bio:
A humble kid raised in both the city of Buffalo and the countryside of western New York state, I still remember the first time I played a video game 15 years ago: Megaman 3. There was no going back from there. Over the years, as I grew, I eventually started getting into writing. What started as a simple Pokemon fanfic wound up becoming a crazy network of crossover fanfiction, so you can imagine my delight when Super Smash Bros. came around and turned all of my childhood dreams into a reality. It's been my favorite franchise ever since, so it's no surprise that I'm psyched about Brawl's release later this year.

It wasn't until about a year ago that I really got interested in gaming journalism as a potential job due to my thoughts of it being nothing more than a "dream job," but the more I visited 1Up.com, IGN, and GameSpot, the more I got into the industry itself and not just the games. Around that time, I got into contact with some of the editors of GameSpot and some from 1Up, notably Jane Pinckard, one of my heroes. Their words of encouragement helped perpetuate my interests, which led to an opportunity in the winter of 2006 when Mike posted that he was looking for editors to work at The Hylia.

After applying, I was told that I was on the team, where I faithfully and passionately served for months, writing reviews and getting the hang of reporting news. That's how I got here, where I have every intention of working hard and producing some quality content for you guys, whom I affectionately refer to as the "Zenties." You're who this is all for, so I hope I can do a good job.

I'm currently a Communications major at Houghton College with a concentration in Digital Media, dating an amazing young woman who fully supports my dreams and has been the largest source of encouragement in my endeavors. My aspirations for the future are to move out to California and become a staff member of 1Up.com. It's a goal I have finally realized as a true possibility, though I know it will be a difficult one to attain (and maybe even impossible in the end), but it's something I will be working adamantly to attain from here on out. I was born and raised in that awesome country of Canada. I lived on a farm all my life, helping my parents run it, so yes, I’m a quiet little farm girl/tom-boy and proud of it! Living in the city now, I realize how much I still love the country, and I know there is no place I’d rather live then Canada.

I am currently attending college for my Bachelor of Education, a.k.a. Teacher. Majoring in English I eventually want to learn a bunch of languages and travel all over the world teaching English (high school English to be specific). I especially want to learn Japanese and Italian and travel to Japan and Italy. Trying out new food, seeing new places, talking about Shakespeare, it’ll be great. Although a career in the gaming industry would be awesome too.

I’ve been a gamer girl since I was really young, playing Zelda II on my cousin’s old NES, and I’ve loved video games (and Zelda) ever since. Growing up during the end of the NES era and the glory days of the SNES, I was able to enjoy many of the best video games ever made, (and some of the worst, Shaq Fu anyone?) when they were brand new. I know I’ll be a Nintendo fan until I’m old and grey.

I don’t have much experience with gaming journalism type writing, but I’ll look up to my fellow writers for guidance, and hopefully I can learn and get better. It is a great experience for me, and a pleasure to be able to write here.

I was born and raised in Houston, TX and now reside with my beautiful wife, Jessica, in East Texas. I graduated from Stratford High in 1997 and went on to attend Baylor University in Waco, TX. I currently work for an online retailer and marketing company in Tyler and I am the webmaster of www.coolledlight.com. I've been playing video games since the Atari 2600 and working on computers since the Apple II E and Commodore days. Santa saw fit to bring me an NES the first Christmas it existed, and ever since then have had the joyous pleasure of watching it all bloom into new experiences of slaying Ganon, Bowser and hundreds of Metroids. That's not to say I didn't venture beyond Nintendo's nest. While I am a passionate fan of Nintendo, the advent of home console gaming enabled me to experience all aspects of the virtual interactive world.

Through my 20 years of gaming (ow that almost hurts to say) I have developed strong opinions for games, and equally importantly, the game industry. Coupled with my gaming experience and love of playing them, I hope to employ what knowledge I can muster and this online presence to communicate with the Zentendo community and gamers everywhere in a way that furthers our minds and passions.

I am practically glued to the computer in my work, and sometimes for fun. I invite feedback of all types and will try my best to participate in our forums here as much as I can. Everyone is seems so busy these days, as am I. But I enjoy the camradarie of online communities with loyalty to a shared interest.

I was born in Buffalo, New York, and I’ve lived here ever since. Video games have been a part of my life since I was four years old, but it was only during the N64 era that I became a serious gamer, particularly for Nintendo products. With the coming of the Gamecube/Xbox/PS2 generation I grew even more interested in the gaming industry and wanted to somehow work with games.

For the longest time I was a passionate writer of fiction, but around age fifteen I lost interest in it and simply stopped. However, my love for writing wasn’t quite gone, and from them I decided to move into the journalism department. I managed to get several opportunities to write about the Legend of Zelda series for the next few years, allowing me to get a taste of what being a regular columnist was like. As it would be, that work paid off with my new position here at Zentendo.

When I’m not writing or playing video games I still manage to keep busy with a good group of friends, various school activities, sports like lacrosse and hockey, and the other hobbies listed at the top. One of my biggest works are the numerous ideas story ideas that I continue to develop, which hopefully I’ll one day be able to turn into some form of media.
