SouthPeak Games, responsible for such titles as Ninjatown and Big Bang Mini for the DS and Dream Pinball 3D for the Wii, has acquired game developer, GameCock Media Group. GameCock, whose credentials include Mushroom Men for the Wii and DS as well as Dementium: The Ward for the DS, has been operating since February 2007.

Melanie Mroz, CEO of SouthPeak, had this to say, "Gamecock brings us a solid slate of upcoming titles, including Legendary, Mushroom Men and Velvet Assassin and supports our strategy of working with independent developers. We are excited to give the Gamecock titles a bigger platform to succeed.”

Mike Wilson, CEO of Gamecock, also had this to say, "We are thrilled to be joining forces with SouthPeak to continue to bring great original titles from independent developers to market with a stronger sales and distribution reach. We have followed each other's progress closely over the last two years, and combining our team with theirs results in a very strong and well-rounded force in the market."

This is going to sound bad, but when I think Gamecock, I think South Carolina University, then I think ex-boyfriend, then I laugh and think "Go Clemson", even though I'm a Hokies fan.  XD

Anyway, the acquisition looks pretty good.
