According to Nikkei,  a larger-screen version of the handheld will be unveiled shortly and could go on sale in Japan as early as this year.

The new DSi has larger screens than the current version, which sports two 3.25-inch screens. The new version will feature screens of four inches, about the same size as the PSP-3000's 4.3-inch screen and larger than the PSP Go's 3.8-inch display. Commensurate with the increased production cost, the handheld's price will be higher, ringing up at ¥18,900 ($205).

Plans for other countries have yet to be made.

Like they say "Bigger is Better" and sometimes it's not. 2D sprites for instance would be stretched out and it would look bland and creepy.

It's for the elderly and people with eyesight problems though from what I've heard.  Plus, the resolution will be increased, not stretched out.  It'll just have slightly larger pixels.

If it makes money, as many as they want.

Yeah, but they should have done this from the start since there are also many young people and people with good eyes that want a DSi with bigger screens. I think many people who have bought a DSi are pissed now.

But I agree about the graphics-quality: Nintendo will make it so that the graphics quality stays the same, you can bet on that. I can't imagine that it will look worse on those bigger screens.

Nintendo, tell me: How many more DSi versions are you planning to release?

Technically having a larger screen with larger pixels is a DECREASE in resolution...
